How long will your night hours take?

Night hours are the bottleneck. The time of year you start matters more than you think.

Why timing matters

Most states define night driving as sunset to sunrise. In June, sunset is around 8:30 PM. In December, it's around 5 PM. The same 6 PM drive counts as night in winter but not in summer.

If you're starting your permit in May, plan to do night hours in the fall and winter when sunset is earlier. Trying to log night hours in July means driving after 9 PM, which is harder to schedule and more tiring.
